About the concert
To mark 140 years since the founding of the Baruch Brothers Choir, the oldest Jewish choir in the world, the closing evening of Rossi Fest is devoted to a concert of sacred music. The concert evening The Psalms of David is conceived to span several centuries of art music, most of it inspired by the Book of Psalms. What makes the programme special is the idea of multiculturalism, or rather multi-confessionalism, which helps to promote and bring together different cultural and religious traditions. Starting from the idea that we should change awareness of the need for young people to be more widely engaged in culture, and encourage a sense of community and solidarity, we found a meeting point in the Old Testament – in the Book of Psalms, whose texts we perform in seven different languages. At the same time, the programme is very appealing both to a wide audience and to all lovers of art music. A theme such as the one chosen (the Psalms of David) is just one form of successful communication that has inspired a whole galaxy of classical composers over the centuries.
