Sopran njujorške Metropoliten opere, Olga Makarina, rođena je u gradu Arhangeljsk, u Rusiji, a prvi put je na sceni Metropoliten opere nastupila u ulozi Lučije od Lamermura. Potom su usledile uloge Đilde u Rigoletu, Konstance u Otmici iz Saraja, Olimpije u Hofmanovim pričama, Ilje u Idomeneu (Linkoln’s Center’s Mostly Mozart), Violete u Travijati (Kirov opera) i Eudoksije u Jevrejki. Pored ovih, igrala je i ulogu Cerbinete u Arijadni na Naksosu i pevala deonisu solo soprana u Orfovoj Karmini Burani.

Nastupala je dva puta na Bard Festivalu – Sećanje na Franca Lista – gde se pojavljivala u scenama iz Mejerberovih opera Robert đavo i Hugenoti, kao i finalnoj sceni Norme, a potom i kao solistkinja u Misi solemnis, Franca Lista.

Na jesen 2006. na sceni Metropoliten opere, preuzela je zahtevnu rolu Elektre u Mocartovom Idomeneu, izvođenu pod dirigentskom palicom Džejmsa Livajna, dok je u Operi Pacifik igrala Adinu u Donicetijevom Ljubavnom napitku, u produkciji Džonatana Milera.

U novembru 2007. učestvuje u novoj produkciji Narodnog pozorišta u Pragu, igrajući ulogu Norme a potom i naslovnu ulogu u Donicetijevoj Lukreciji Bordžiji, u Slovačkom narodnom pozorištu u Bratislavi. Usledile su i uloge Adine u Palm Biču, Lučije u Varšavi, kao i resital sa izraelsko-američkim pijanistom, Jefimom Bronfmanom.

U oktobru 2008. Makarina nastupa u ulozi Marfe, pevajući zajedno sa Olgom Borodinom u operi Carska nevesta, sa Orkestrom njujorške opere u Karnegi holu. U sezoni 2008/2009. vraća se na scenu Metropoliten opere kao Đilda, Manon, Tais i Lučija, a u Varšavi peva ulogu Leonore u operi Trubadur.

Olga Makarina magistrirala je na konzervatorijumu u Sankt Peterburgu klavir i solo pevanje, dobitnica je velikog broja značajnih nagrada i priznanja, a pored njene zavidne operske karijere, naročito je zapažen i njen pedagoški rad sa mladim pevačima.

Born in Archangel, Russia, Metropolitan Opera soprano Olga Makarina, made her first New York appearances at New York City Opera as Lucia di Lammermoor and has performed there as Gilda in Rigoletto, Konstanze in Mozart’s Abduction from the Seraglio and Olympia in Les Contes d’Hoffmann. Other roles in Ms Makarina’s repertoire include Ilia in Idomeneo (Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival), Violetta in La Traviata (Kirov Opera) and Eudoxie in La Juive (Opera Orchestra of New York). Ms Makarina has also appeared as Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos with the Minnesota Orchestra and in Orff’s Carmina Burana as well.

Olga Makarina appeared twice at the Bard Festival’s Franz Liszt Commemoration in an opera gala singing scenes from Meyerbeer’s Robert le Diable and Les Huguenots as well as the final scene of Norma and then as soloist in the Grand Messe of Franz Liszt.

In the fall of 2006, she took on the demanding role of Elettra in Mozart’s Idomeneo at the Metropolitan Opera with James Levine conducting.  At Opera Pacific she was Adina in the Jonathan Miller production of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore.

In November 2007 she sang Bellini’s Norma in a new production at the National Theater Prague, the title role in Donizetti’s Lucrezia Borgia at the Slovak National Opera in Bratislava, Adina in Palm Beach, Lucia in Warsaw and performed in recital with Yefim Bronfman. She sings Marfa in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride with Olga Borodina with Opera Orchestra of New York at Carnegie Hall in October 2008 and returns to the Metropolitan covering Gilda, Manon, Thais and Lucia in the 2008-09 season and sings Leonora in Trovatore in Warsaw.

Ms Makarina also has her Masters in piano and voice from the St Petersburg Conservatory. She has won a number of important prizes and awards including the Metropolitan Opera Auditions, the Musicians Emergency Fund and the Lieder.
